Splitting will help address “high risk” Obsidian code scanner findings, should help with startup time and reduce the plugin size to under 5MB which means, even Obsidian sync basic will distribute plugin files to all your devices.
Publishing the new Excalidraw Extras plugin to Obsidian Community Plugins was an amazingly smooth ride. The Obsidian team have done an outstanding job with this new publishing experience. For now, don’t download the Extras plugin, it is published, because I wanted to test the publishing workflow before taking the whole plugin apart for this change.

Once the new split Excalidraw plugin is live, you will be prompted to install Excalidraw Extras the first time you want to access outsourced features. These features are:
- MathJax for LaTeX formulas
- Mermaid
- PDF printing
- Direct file system access (reading files from your local file system, outside your vault)
